Tamarius
Jones.
Cinematographer, director and creative director based in Baltimore, Maryland. Founder of Black Shed Media.
Tamarius Jones is a cinematographer, director and creative director working out of Baltimore, Maryland. He directs and shoots short-form narrative, documentary, music video and branded work, and handles edit and colour in-house — a full concept-to-delivery pipeline run by one creative lead.
He studied at Bowie State University before moving into production full time, building a body of work across campus culture, live events, fashion and brand storytelling throughout the Baltimore–Washington corridor. In 2026 he founded Black Shed Media, a creative production studio built for artists, athletes, brands and visionaries.
The approach
Most productions lose fidelity in the handoff. A treatment gets approved, a different DP shoots it, an editor who wasn't on set cuts it, and a colourist who never saw the reference grades it. Four interpretations of one idea.
Working as director, cinematographer, editor and colourist collapses that chain. The person who wrote the treatment is the person holding the camera and the person pulling the final grade. Clients get one point of contact and a shorter timeline; the work gets a single, consistent creative intent.
The standard doesn't move between a music video and a homecoming recap. Only the tempo does.
Visual language
The work leans on natural and practical light, longer lenses, and observational camera movement — documentary technique applied in commercial contexts. Subjects are isolated with shallow depth of field and let to move within the frame rather than being blocked into it. Grades run warm and filmic, with contrast held back so skin tones stay honest.
Beyond the camera
As @txmarius, Jones has built an audience of over 22,000 with roughly 300,000 monthly impressions across travel, lifestyle and style content. That work is a live test bench: it shows in real numbers what holds attention in the first three seconds and what loses it. That instinct carries directly into client campaigns, where the difference between a film that gets watched and one that gets scrolled past is usually decided before the title card.
He has partnered with brands across travel, lifestyle, fashion and hospitality to create campaigns that read as native content rather than advertising.
Post-production
Colour and edit are not an afterthought bolted onto a shoot — they are a separate craft, and I take them as standalone work. As a colorist I grade in DaVinci Resolve for other filmmakers, editors and agencies, matching shots across cameras and days and building looks to reference rather than applying LUTs. Skin tone accuracy across a full range of complexions is the part I care most about getting right.
That work runs remotely from anywhere, so post clients are not limited to the DMV.
